At least 1.7 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the United States each year. Of those individuals, about 52,000 die, 275,000 are hospitalized, and 1.365 million are treated and released from an emergency department. A traumatic brain injury is an insult to the brain caused by an external force, which may impair cognitive, physical, behavioral, and emotional functions. This kit is delivered in two parts. Contents of this kit contain models of the human brain and human skull, central nervous system chart, brain diagrams, Human Brain illustrated guide with DVD by DK Publishing, a bicycle safety activity, a bike helmet, a brain injury prevention and awareness card game.
