BRIEF 2 is a rating scale to be completed by parents and teachers of school-age children (5-18 yrs) that assesses everyday behaviors associated with executive functions. Designed for those children for whom there may be concerns about self-regulation such as those with learning disabilities and attention disorders, traumatic brain injuries, depression, and other developmental, neurological, psychiatric, and medical conditions. The forms contain 63 items within nine clinical scales that measure commonly agreed upon domains of executive functioning: Inhibit, Self-Monitor, Shift, Emotional Control, Initiate, Working Memory, Plan/Organize, Task-Monitor, and Organization of Materials.
