A collection of six books, four videos, two DVDs, assorted fur pelts, many Native American tools from arrows and bone awls to shaft straighteners and bone fish hooks, lithic materials (rocks/minerals), and other items and information. The items for the kit were acquired through a grant by Merle Frommelt, Park Ranger at Effigy Mounds National Monument, for the purpose of helping school children learn about the past cultures, archaeology, ecology, and history of Northeast Iowa and the Upper Mississippi River Area. Culture kit. Teaching basket. If you have a question about items in the trunk, or if you would like Merle Frommelt to come to your school and present a program to students based on this kit, he invites you to call him at Effigy Mounds at 563-873-3491 or at his home at 608-326-2275. If Merle comes to present a program for you, there will be a nominal cost for travel expense. Two-week loan period. | |
