ASEBA: Achenback Sysem of Empirically Based Assessment uses the Child Behavior Checklist/6-18 (CBCL/6-18), Teacher's Report Form/6-18 (TRF), and Youth Self-Report/11-18 (YSR) to assess divese aspects of adaptive and maladaptive functioning. ASEBA is an integrated system of multi-informant assessment. CBCL/6-18 obtains parents' reports of children's competencies and problems. Includes 6 DSM-oriented scales; 3 competence scales; Total Competence; 8 cross-informant syndromes; Internalizing, Externalizing, and Total Problems (Time: 15-20 minutes). Teacher's Report Form obtains teacher's ratings of most CBCL problem items, plus other items appropriate for teachers. Profiles include scales for academic performance, adaptive functioning, the 8 cross-informant syndromes and the 6 DSM-oriented scales, Internalizing, Externalizing, and Total Problems (Time: 15-20 minutes). YSR can be filled out by youths having 5th grade reading skills or administered orally. Has many items like CBCL, but 14 items are replaced with socially desirable items endorsed by most youths. Profiles for scoring the YSR include 2 competencies scales, Total Competence, the 8 cross-informant syndromes, and 6 DSM-oriented scales like those scored from the CBCL and TRF, Internalizing, Externalizing, and Total Problems (Time: 15-20 minutes).
