Presents theory and research as it applies to the clinical process with clients who are communicatively impaired and bilingual. First chapter reviews the literature of culture, demographics, family roles and socialization. The next two chapters discuss bilingual education and bilingualism. The fourth on nonbiased assessment reviews the procedures recommended for speech-language pathology and special education in assessing impairments. Also discusses test instruments, modified procedures, and assessment checklists. The fifth chapter provides information on elicitation procedures, developmental data for Spanish-speaking children, and analysis procedures. The last chapter discusses intervention.
