Manual from the ASSIST Program (Affective/Social Skills: Instructional Strategies and Techniques) includes lessons designed to enable students to acknowledge, accept, and constructively express anger. Students learn to use inner speech to inhibit aggressive behaviors; to use thinking skills for choosing constructive behaviors; appropriate language to express anger; a variety of techniques to release energy after anger arousal; ways to defuse the anger of others; and a model for resolving classroom conflicts. Role-plays and puppets are utilized to encourage active student involvement. Grades 1-6. | |
