Subtitle: A Cooperative Approach to a Multicultural World. Activities for grades 5-8 are designed to help young adolescents develop a multicultural perspective. Working in small groups, students determine what factors shape a culture, explore how cultures are unique, and discover what customs and values cultures share. Includes teaching suggestions, lesson plans and background material. Students compare their own culture with that of Bolivia, 18th century Canada, Russia, and Korea. In Unit II, they create a new culture with its own special langauge, customs, calculating system, clothing, and transportation. Reproducible exercises. | |
