This picture book biography combines the story of Sitting Bull’s life with a brief history of the Lakota people in the nineteenth century. Retraces in dignified language his early years, long struggles with the "wasichus"(white men)over invasions and broken promises, and his end. Includes period photographs & quotes from Sitting Bull and several U.S. military leaders. An extensive time line (Late 1600s - 1890) and author notes provide substantial background information.
