Describes seventeen ways in which some people are unlike everyone else because of differerences in their bodies or their brains, and interviews people with these conditions, many of whom did not know there was anyone else like them. Some of the conditions covered include HSAM (highly superior autobiographical memory); congenital anosmia (no sense of smell); Prosopagnosia (inability to recognize faces); Developmental Topographical Disorientation (person is always lost); Tetrachromacy (person sees millions more colors than the average person); synesthesia (condition that associates numbers, letters, words or music with colors); joint hypermobility (double-jointed); amusia(music sounds like noise).
