  Booklet relates to a 2001 archaeological excavation on the former site of the Dubuque Boat and Boiler Works at the Ice Harbor in Dubuque. Presents a historical account of occurrences at the Ice Harbor site in the context of local & national history in order to provide greater understanding and appreciation of the history of Dubuque and its boat building past. In 1903, the Iowa Iron Works Shipbuilding Division reorganized and became known as the Dubuque Boat and Boiler Works. Boat building from 1870-1972 included paddle wheelers, towboats, ferry boats, Coast Guard cutters, barges, excursion boats. Includes archival photographs. IL 6-T.
